Director - Producer - Writer

About

about me

RACHEL B. KARP (she/her)

I am a NY based director, producer, and writer working across theater, podcasts, film, TV, and digital media.

Theater was and will always be my first love. Most recently, I served as associate director on the new musical Starstruck, by Beth Malone, Mary Ann Stratton, and Emily Sailers and dir. by Sherri Eden Barber. I directed Permafrost Theater Collective’s production of The High Priestess by Andrew Martini, which was shot and broadcast live from The Dragons’s Egg Studio in Ledyard, CT. I also directed 3DaysPrior’s premiere production, a gender-bent adaptation of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, which had two sold-out runs in Brooklyn, first at St. Paul’s Theater Upstairs, and then at The Brick.

I have found new joy creating podcasts and supporting film, TV, and digital media projects. I co-created and produce Cruising, the chart-topping, Webby honored, narrative-documentary podcast about the last lesbian bars in the U.S. This project took me on a 30 day, 10,000 mile road trip around the U.S. to visit each of these spaces and interview the humans that run them and the humans that call them a home.

Associate Producing credits include Sometimes When We Touch (a Paramount+ docu-series), Customer Wars (an A+E clip show), and various brand campaigns including Patron, Invisibobble, Riondo, and Apothic. Production Coordinator credits include New York Homicide (an Oxygen true crime series), Rifkin on Rifkin (an Oxygen documentary), and Eye Candy (a Roku Channel competition show).

I have a B.S. in Theater (directing/playwriting track) and English from Skidmore College, and have trained at the Moscow Art Theater School.
